We've just started to use this and ran into this:

One person was in a company and had the report writer open. All other users who open the company receive a message saying "user is working in that comapny" (not ecact wording). A secong user opens the same company and want to create a new report and they can not open the report writer. Correct lan pac is installed because a number of users are in ledger during the day.

Is this by design? or an issue? Thanks

Yes, this is more by design. Users with read/print only access are able to print financial statements, as are others by using the Reports menu. However, only one user at a time, is able to access Maintain Financial Statements.

Do you have multiple users who need to create and modify financial statements at the same time? Or, is it that they need to print financials but are wanting to do so using Maintain rather than Print Financial Statements access?

we have 3 user who create reports and some times need to access the same company at the same time as report requirement differ for the different users'. One may be doing Trail Balance, the Taxes, and the 3rd investments.

So you're saying that 3 users sometimes need modify financial statements at the same time then, not to simply print them (if they have access to Maintain Financial Statements, they will definitely have access to Reports | Financial Statements to print them).

If this is the case, you might want to look at Adagio FX/Pro as an option. Using FX they could each retrieve a copy of the data they wish to work with into their own separate FX dataset. From there, they could create/modify financials for the retrieved dataset.
