Hi Jim,
I can't offer any specific instances, good or bad, regarding experiences with running Adagio over Dialup/Broadband.
Not only is Adagio a multi-user application, but it is also a multi-file application as well. In MS Word, you only ever open one file at a time (the DOC file). In Adagio or other accounting software, very often many files need to be accessed simultaneously. In addition, some functions require checking to make sure they should be run - ie multi-user situations such as posting batches, data integrity checks, etc.
Lastly, typically accounting data will be much larger than a Word document in terms of file sizes.
If you compare running Adagio with data on a network server versus the data on a local C drive, you will probably find that performance is much better with data local. The same arguement exists for adding dialup/broadband to the equation. I would expect functionality to not be as fast as compared to not using Remote Access (as you indicated in your other post).
That being said, I can understand your frustration with a two-minute wait to bring up an Edit grid.
Regards,
