Dear Kbong

Unfortunately, there is no patch. Retainage is setup in AR, as you know. QIP calculates based on the retainage % that is setup in AR 1st, if there is an amount entered. If there is no retainage percentage entered in the AR Housekeeping field, you can enter your own flat amount, but posting will send the retainage amount calculated based on the result of what you have entered into the Totals screen in QIP. As you have seen, as soon as you enter the $40210 into the retainage total field in QIP, it calculates (and rounds up) the percentage.

This is likely based on the fact that you have a 2-decimal place currency code setup for AR, thus for QIP. You must choose a percentage based on 2-decimal places if you wish to have a consistent value posted to AR and GL.

Hi again, Kbong!

You are correct in your first & second postings! I duplicated your complaint here with the sample data I was using, however - I have done some more testing here, and have more consistent results. I restored new sample data and tested posting retainage again. The end result was that QIP is posting properly, based on entering any amount instead of using the default retainage %. The correct amounts are posted through in AR if overriding the calculated retainage % by entering a flat amount.

I tested by entering 0.00% in the AR Company Profile's default retainage % as well as using a default of 5.43, then posted a few QIP invoices with retainage. I got the same results when entering & posting an invoice directly with AR or QIP.

FYI, when you post invoices in QIP, it is actually AR that is doing the posting routine, so the results (as you have noted) should be the same.

I would suggest doing a DIC and possibly reinstalling QIP. The newest release of QIP6.5A is 000201. This is compatible with AR 61-65A.

I cannot say why my older sample data was duplicating your issue, but I would look into this further. Please get back to us after trying the above suggestions and let us know what is happening.

Regards

Hi again, Kbong

As in any ACCPAC Plus or associated module, if you do not press <Enter> after having typed the data into a field, it will not be accepted. You MUST press <Enter> for the program to accept the value properly.

If you press <Esc> after typing the data into the entry field in question - and then go back into the Totals screen - without going any further - you will see that the calculated retainage % rather than the $40,210 that was keyed in is displayed. At this point, you can still go in and scroll through the fields to change the value and then press <enter> to accept the desired amount.

Don't know what happened to give you the incorrect results the first time, but keep your eye on this.

Regards
