When linking to the database file adagio.ssi it asks for a Microsoft Access password, as the database type is not detected by crystal reports. How can I resolve this?

Are you using "Crystal Reports for Adagio"? It's a specialized version of Crystal Reports, and the only one that will access Adagio data.

If you are, then there are better ways to access Adagio data than to use the adagio.ssi link, although that way should work.

"adagio.ssi" loads all the tables for all the Adagio files. You are better off to browse to your Adagio data directory and select one of the "xxGLOB.dat" files to start building your reports.

We've run into this once before when a site installed another program that also used the Crystal engine, and it overwrote some files that Crystal Reports for Adagio used. The solution is this particular case was an upgrade to that software - which happened to be an EFT solution for a particular bank.

Do you have any other software on your workstation that uses the Crystal engine? Are you aware when creating reports stopped working for you (and what has happened since then)?

Access to the database in Crystal Reports for Adagio only kicks in when you attempt to create a new report, verify database for an existing report, or add a database to a report. Simply opening and printing reports doesn't load the database layer.

Andrew & Steve,

I usually connect to the ??GLOB file, but that is not working here either.

Tech Support,

I will check with the user, who is remote from here, to see if anything using Crystal was installed after it.

I assume this is the first time this has been tried and is failing. You mentioned off-line that Citrix server is part of the equation. Has anything changed in that environment?

This particular error is coming from Crystal Reports and likely not specific to the Adagio database. You could try creating a dummy Excel Spreadsheet with a couple of titles in row 1 and values underneath, select the columns and Insert / Name / Define to define a named range, and then attempt to use Crystal Reports to report off of the spreadsheet via the ODBC Excel connection. If this also fails, then you know for sure that this is a Crystal error.

FYI - if you install Crystal Reports for Adagio, you will need to install Adagio accounting applications afterwards to ensure the reporting tables are up to date.

Aha ... that last comment may well be the issue.

(BTW .. after the 8.1 modules come out -- the priority now, I know -- a change to the CRA install process to include the most recent report tables for all modules would be most welcome.)
