I am getting an error in integrity: "Quantity of Lost Sales YTD is Below Zero"

I run Integrity every day, this error just occured two days ago, yet the only transaction for this item in the last four days is one shipment, and I still have quantity on hand.

Hello Nick Sciabica,

You lose a sale when you delete an order for an item, but that doesn't explain why the qty would be negative. Is the item a "real item", as opposed to a rebate or other use for inventory?

It is indeed a "real item", pasta to be precise. I 've seen the error in two other places as well... all "real items" which we have in stock.

Hi Nick Sciabica,

We have found an error in how lost sales are calculated when quantity shipped is greater than quantity ordered. This error will be corrected in the next service pack. This fix should correct your data integrity error.

We have recently begun to encounter this same error again. We now have 3 errors that report "quantity lost YTD is less then 0". Is there a way to fix this manually?

These errors occured when we were using 6.8B but now we are on 8.0.

Hello Nick Sciabica,

Yes, these errors can be corrected manually.

From the Edit menu, choose Item Maintenance, and Sales History.

Enter your item number. The fields for Qty lost YTD and Qty lost LY will be editable.

The frequency of this error is increasing. I now get about 3 per week. It is easy to fix the errors, but I am worried that it is a sign of a bigger problem.

Hi Nick,

I think I duplicated this. Edit a posted order in OrderEntry and increase the Quantity Ordered. Then ship the items on the order and post the invoice. After posting the invoice, the Qty Lost Sales YTD on the inventory item is negative.
