When we changed from ACCPAC to Adagio,we were excited to be able to use the "fax" option for faxing Statements and to re-fax invoices that customers may request. We also used our Win fax Pro program extensively for faxing out quotes and parts searching. When we upgraded the software, we also upgraded our computers. We are now running with XP Pro. Our installer, after many attempts at setting up the fax, tells us it is not compatible with the XP / Winfax. Is there something we can change so that we can use the faxing features on our computer and available in Adagio? We would be willing to buy a new fax program if this would work.

Hello KEMLTD,

Your installer is correct, Adagio is not compatible with XP/Winfax - but it is compatible with XP, and does not require any faxing software as all the necessary components are supplied with Adagio. All you need is a fax modem on one of the computers running Adagio and a connection to the phone system.

In the module you are trying to fax from, select File | Options and make sure that faxing is enabled for the station. You should then see a fax button available where you can print statements or invoices. The document will be generated and the telephone number automatically retrieved for the customer. Adagio supports full 10-digit dialing with long distance rules and dialing prefixes and suffixes.

Winfax requires you to "print" to their fax driver and then provide a fax number to send it to. This procss should still work, assuming you can get Winfax to run under XP. However, the Adagio fax automatically finds the correct number from the customer file.

As this question is more of a technical support inquiry, I'll move your post to that forum.

A couple of other notes re: faxing

- Every workstation that will use Adagio Receivables to Fax statements should go to the Fax Setup screen and make sure the correct COM port is selected for faxing. If the particular computer does not have a modem (and simply wants to add statement to the Fax queue), select None for the Fax COM port.

- We have seen circumstances where running another process that uses the fax modem does not work simutaneously with the Adagio faxing process. Just in case you are running WinFax and want to start faxing statements from Adagio.

- Stay tuned for the next upgrade of Adagio Receivables and it's imminent release as you'll be able to email statements in addition to either printing or faxing. Maybe more cause for excitement!

Instead of having a fax modem can I have a fax machine hooked up to my server and have the fax machine do all the work instead of the modem

Hello kevin,

Almost every machine sold in the last 5 years has a modem/fax modem port as part of the machine. Adagio wants to be able to communicate directly with the fax modem so that it can tell it what phone number to dial. You will only be able to use your fax machine connected to you network if it "looks like" a fax modem to your computer. If it doesn't, then purchase a small telephone jack splitter form your local electronics store and share the fax phone line with your PC.

BTW - Adagio Receivables now allows you to e-mail your statements as PDF attachments to your clients.
