adding a new item in inventory is there a default to allow it to add to alternate price lists automaticly.
when doing a price change in the regular price list I need it to automaticly change the alternate unless the item is specificly listed on the alternate list.
with mulitple price lists in mulitple data bases updates are a pain

Why not update the alternate prices in Excel and import them. This was added as a new feature in Inventory V8.0A

Of course, make sure you have made a backup before importing anything into your accounting database.
